Imma (אמא, "Mother") is the Lurianic name for the female parent in the Abba and Imma parental pair — the Partzuf through which understanding (Binah) operates as the operational mother of Zeir Anpin (Z"A) and Nukva. Imma's most distinctive operational role across Klach is sweetening: her gevurot, when sweetened by her own coupling with Abba, become the brotherly love that Malchut as container vessel distributes through Z"A.
Imma is mentioned structurally in the early chapters (Op. 10 onward) but becomes operationally substantive at Op. 38 (Imma/Z"A/Nukva nesting per Tikkuney Zohar 23a) and Op. 52 (Imma's sweetening power — the operational mechanism by which Z"A's intrinsic stern judgment is mitigated; Imma enters Z"A as bone-of-his-bones; Yevamot 62b "without wife, no joy").
From Op. 110–114 (Abba and Imma as the parental pair), Imma is treated formally: Op. 110 (external root in A"A); Op. 111 (spread of Concealed Wisdom in CHaDaR for Z"A); Op. 112 (Imma reveals the Mental Powers in detail; Abba reveals them as a whole); Op. 113 (Abba-Imma coupling is constant — the constancy is what makes Z"A's Mental Powers continuous); Op. 114 (the path of influence through Abba and Imma to Z"N).
From Op. 119–122 (Z"A's construction unit), Imma is the enclothing mother: pregnancy is Z"A hidden inside Imma (Op. 122); Imma's role spans the entire three-stage construction.
Imma travels closely with Abba (constant coupling; whole-and-detail revelation), Z"A (Imma is Z"A's operational mother; her sweetening is what makes Z"A's CHaDaR governance run), Nukva (Imma is also Nukva's mother; Leah is the inner soul of Nukva drawn from the hind parts of Imma, Op. 118), and Mochin (Imma's role in engrafting Daat into Z"A is the source of the bridging Mochin).
Imma is the operational mother of the cosmic-government generation. Her gevurot, when sweetened by her constant coupling with Abba, become the brotherly love Z"A's CHaDaR distributes. Without Imma's sweetening, Z"A's intrinsic stern judgment would dominate; with it, the cosmic government runs in love-and-repair mode.
