Arich Anpin (אריך אנפין, "the Long Face" — abbreviated A"A) is the operational root of all Atzilut. Its name means long of patience in Aramaic — the opposite of Zeir Anpin ("short of patience") — and it is the Partzuf in which unmitigated mercy is structurally rooted. A"A is the first specifiable Partzuf below radla; it is where investigable cosmic governance begins. The other Partzufim of Atzilut (Abba, Imma, Z"A, Nukva) are branches of A"A; A"A is their root.
A"A's anatomy is treated more thoroughly than any other Partzuf in the second half of Klach. Two anatomical accounts coexist: the Skull and Brain of the Idra (the Threshing Floor) (Idra Rabba) (A"A's intrinsic governmental mode); the Three Heads (Keter, Avira, Mocha) of Idra Zuta (A"A's mode in generating Z"A). Both are valid; they are different operational stances of the same Partzuf.
Op. 8 mentions A"A in the context of the Partzufim's contradictory likenesses. Op. 22 maps A"A onto the Yod of the Four-Letter Name (the four-letter mapping). Op. 55 is the first substantive treatment in cosmogonic context: AV (gematria 72) is Arich Anpin* — A"A is the operational expansion AV of the Four-Letter Name, the highest of the four expansions.
Op. 74 opens the named-Partzuf walk with Atik Yomin. A"A is implicit throughout but not yet centred. Op. 81 treats A"A as part of the revealed governmental order — A"A is one of the Partzufim of Atzilut that emerge from the unique arrangement of MaH (gematria 45)-BaN (gematria 52) connections.
Op. 90 opens the dedicated A"A unit: A"A is the first Partzuf in Atzilut, built of MaH and BaN; the MaH and BaN are male and female aspects (dechura ve-nukva) of A"A itself. Each Partzuf is built of MaH-and-BaN; A"A's special place is that all of Atzilut is built that way and that A"A is the root from which the others branch.
Op. 91 unfolds A"A's two aspects: intrinsic and through-branches.
Op. 92 treats Z"A's emergence from A"A teleologically — Z"A is for the sake of the cycle's operational completion; A"A generates Z"A.
Op. 93 develops the thirteen Conduits of Mercy in A"A's beard — the operational mercy-channels through which the concealed government's mercy descends into the rest of Atzilut.
Op. 94 develops A"A's mitigation modes — standard vs. exceptional.
Op. 95 closes the unit with the Skull and Brain (Idra Rabba) and Three Heads (Idra Zuta) anatomical accounts.
Op. 96 places A"A in the AK → Atik → A"A → Atzilut chain. Atik clothes in A"A; Atzilut sits under Adam Kadmon.
Op. 97 names A"A's role in the three governmental modes — A"A as the intermediary between AK's meta-frame and the operational Partzufim below.
Op. 98 develops Atik's elevation role within A"A.
Op. 100 generalises the clothing relation across all Partzuf-pairs, with A"A as the local example.
Op. 101 generalises across Partzufim that every Partzuf's Head must be complete with Keter and Mochin — A"A's Head is the paradigm case.
Op. 109 states the general rule of Partzuf-pair interrelation (chain of development + clothing). A"A is one of the pairs the rule governs.
Op. 116 specifies that A"A's governance reaches Z"A through both modes — A"A is the upstream root whose mercy descends through Abba, Imma, and into Z"A's Mochin.
