Section: The World of Nekudim (Openings 36–50)
This chapter resolves the apparent paradox left by Op. 41. Op. 41 said: light hidden above until vessel completes its mission. But Op. 37 said: purification is still going on today, with steadily increasing gain each day. So how can the lights have ever begun to enter at all if purification is not yet complete? Resolution: the light enters progressively, in proportion to the degree of repair. Two parts: (Part 1) Repair did not come all at once but gradually — daily birurim advances every passing day; the greater the repair, the more light enters. Soul-body archetype carries: at resurrection the soul immediately enters the rebuilt body, but many ascents still remain; first purification from uncleanliness (the torment of the grave), then from residual trace; each time the soul shines with added luster. Cosmically: first light entered but had to leave; then parts of vessels repaired, lights began to enter; more repair → more light; when purification complete, all the light enters. Refinement follows the order of destined future ascents of the lights of Ears, Nose, Mouth. (Part 2) Final completion in the future (Op. 4 cross-ref): evil reverts to good at end of governmental cycle. Sinners receive heavy punishments; Israel strengthened in faith — even the lengthy exile and great bitterness are a call for the unity of God to be revealed. End of Residue's rule → purification of vessels complete; Israel's great faith despite long exile is what subdues evil and turns it back to good. Light's entry and joining then complete in perfection.
This chapter is the answer to a question Op. 41 made unavoidable.
Part 1 — Light's progressive entry. Repair came gradually, advancing stage by stage with every passing day through birurim. More repair = more light. Soul-body archetype: at resurrection soul immediately enters body, but many ascents remain; torment of the grave first, then residual purification. Cosmically: first entry → withdrawal; partial repair → partial entry; complete purification → all the light. Refinement order = destined ascents of ENM lights.
Part 2 — Future completion. End of governmental cycle; sinners punished; Israel's faith strengthened; long exile and bitterness themselves are the call for unity. End of Residue's rule → purification complete → light's entry and joining complete.

Op. 42 resolves Op. 41's puzzle. If the light enters only when the vessel is purified, and Op. 37 says purification is still ongoing — how have lights entered at all? Answer: light enters progressively, in proportion to the degree of repair. The mechanism is daily birurim — sorting and sifting that advances stage by stage every passing day with steadily increasing gain (Op. 37 ¶13). Greater repair → more light enters; complete purification → all the light enters completely. The soul-body archetype anchors this: at resurrection, the soul immediately enters the rebuilt body, but many ascents still remain — first purification from uncleanliness via the torment of the grave (hibbut ha-kever), then purification from residual trace, with added luster at each stage. Cosmically: refinement of the vessels post-purification follows the order of the destined future ascents of the lights of Ears, Nose, and Mouth. Final completion awaits the end of the governmental cycle (Op. 4): sinners punished, Israel's faith strengthened, the long exile itself a call for the unity of God to be revealed. Israel's great faith despite the long exile is the historical engine subduing evil and turning it back to good — at which point the rule of the Residue ends, the purification of the vessels concludes, and the light completes its entry and joins with them in perfection.
