Section: The Unknown Head (Openings 85–89)

TL;DR

Klach closes with the project's general epistemic principle: a branch of something concealed may be revealed; the root itself always remains concealed. We grasp the order of the Partzufim — even when that order is called the order of the Unknown Head, because it derives from there — but the source in radla is not graspable.

Chapter map

This chapter answers a question Op. 86 ¶5 raised but did not directly answer: of what benefit is it to know what these uncertainties are? The first difficulty about the ARI's teaching, which Op. 86 left implicit. Op. 87's answer is operational: knowing what the uncertainties are lets you read the architecture by which the world is actually governed. Three parts. Part 1 (¶5): every deed is rooted in radla; what is not rooted there does not come about. Part 2 (¶6–¶7): all governance depends on the deeds of lower creatures; the influence is mutual; everything is fixed in eternity for the perfection-of-the-cycle. Part 3 (¶8–¶9): all radla-combinations rule all the time; the Partzuf-states shift in ratzo va-shov; we grasp only the order in the Partzufim, not the source.

The chapter is the unit's bridge into the operational. Op. 86 was structural — it told you what kind of thing a sefek is. Op. 87 is operational — it tells you what work the sefekot do. Read the two together: the all-combinations-exist claim of Op. 86 ¶7 plus the every-deed-reaches-radla claim of Op. 87 ¶5–¶6 yields the architecture by which Klach explains why particular events in the world look the way they do.

What this chapter is doing — three parts

Part 1 — Every deed rooted in radla. The claim is precise: all the deeds that have been done and are being done in the world are subject to these interconnections. The mystery of knowledge holds everything that will happen — in the very way it will happen. From this Klach draws the corollary: what is not rooted here will not come about, neither repair nor damage. The possibilities already prepared in the Unknown Head are the boundaries of the actually-possible. This operationalizes Op. 81's foreknowledge concealed for free will — the foreknowledge in question is sod ha-yedi'ah, the mystery of knowledge; what foreknowledge holds is the configurations of MaH-with-BaN that will actually be realized; their concealment is what licenses free choice. The picture is not deterministic in the casual sense (radla does not make you do what you do); it is ontologically saturated in the sense that whatever can be done was prepared, and whatever was not prepared cannot be done.

Part 2 — Mutual influence; eternal registration. The governmental order takes into account the overall totality — the cross-reference is to Op. 78, where Klach established the cycle-and-registration picture. Every new deed has an effect on all the past, all the present, and all the future. The result of the deed will never cease to exist; it is registered to exist for ever and to all eternity. Klach then specifies the circuit: every deed reaches its place at radla (because all deeds, past/present/future, are already there); at radla, all aspects — past, present, future — are affected by the deed (they are all included there); and through the power of the deed's effect, the Partzufim are afterwards arranged (in the order of Atzilut) to act in the worlds. The parenthetical names the principle directly: the influence is mutual. The deed affects radla; radla affects the Partzufim; the Partzufim act in the worlds. The eternal-registration portion ¶7 elaborates: every deed endures for the sake of the perfection destined to be revealed afterwards for the eternal delight of the souls. The cross-reference is to the cycle-of-creation (Op. 3, Op. 30 onwards). Three kinds of combinations are now named: equivalent, contrary, opposite. Klach's earlier opposites both exist (Op. 86 ¶13–¶14) is now extended: not just opposite but the full triad of equivalent / contrary / opposite combinations.

**Part 3 — All combinations rule all the time; the Partzufim in ratzo va-shov.** The architectural contrast: in the other Partzufim of Atzilut, each light holds sway by itself in its own time. The other lights are temporally discrete — one rules now, another rules later. But radla is different: its combinations rule all the time because in every deed they are all affected simultaneously. Radla is not temporally discrete; its lights are a single ongoing simultaneity made operational by every lower deed. From this follows the which-aspect phenomenon: the government turns from one to another in each thing, shifting from one aspect to a similar, contrary, or opposite one — because the entire governmental order exists in each part. The Partzuf-states correspondingly shift in the mode of running and returning (ratzo va-shov, picked up verbatim from Op. 86 ¶9). The ratzo va-shov now operates at both levels: at radla itself (Op. 86 ¶9) and at the Partzufim as the operational trace of radla. The chapter closes with the general epistemic principle: no one can understand or grasp anything except what is revealed through the order and law visible in the Partzufim. We grasp the Partzuf-order, not the radla-source. The order in the Partzufim is called the order of the Unknown Head — because it derives from there — but that derivation is not what is grasped; what is grasped is the order in Atzilut. Klach's general rule, stated in its cleanest form here: a branch of something that is concealed may be revealed, but the root itself always remains concealed.

The diagrams

Two diagrams. The first is the deed → radla → Partzufim → worlds circuit, showing the mutual coupling: every deed reaches radla and is registered eternally; radla in turn arranges the Partzufim to act in the worlds in light of the deed. The second is the temporal-architecture contrast: each light in the other Partzufim of Atzilut rules in its own time (temporally discrete); the lights of radla rule all the time (temporally simultaneous), and the Partzuf-states shift in ratzo va-shov in response.

Diagram 1 — The mutual circuit: deed, radla, Partzufim, worlds

op87_deed_radla_circuit The deed → radla → Partzufim → worlds circuit (Op. 87 ¶6) Mutual influence: every deed reaches radla; radla in turn arranges the Partzufim Deed Human deed in the world · repair or damage · performed by lower creature · must already be rooted at radla Radla Radla — the Unknown Head · holds sod ha-yedi'ah · all combinations already prepared · all past/present/future deeds included · every deed reaches its place here Deed->Radla reaches its place Eternal Eternal registration · deed endures for the perfection · for the eternal delight of the souls · cycle-of-creation contribution · no deed is lost Deed->Eternal registered for AllAspects All aspects affected · past, present, future  all simultaneously · because all are included here · non-local-in-time · all combinations engaged at once Radla->AllAspects affects all Partzufim Partzufim of Atzilut · arranged afterwards · in light of radla-affection · states shift in ratzo va-shov · each Partzuf carries the trace AllAspects->Partzufim arranges Worlds Action in the worlds · what actually happens · lights/repairs vs deficiencies · the visible state of governance Partzufim->Worlds acts in Eternal->Radla contributes to perfection

The diagram shows the operational architecture. Every human deed makes contact with the mystery of knowledge at radla — at the first place of the MaH-BaN joining. There the deed affects all past, present, and future aspects simultaneously, because all are included there. Through the power of the deed's effect, the Partzufim of Atzilut are afterwards arranged to act in the worlds in light of the radla-affection. The deed is also registered to exist for ever, contributing to the perfection-of-the-cycle destined for the eternal delight of the souls. The circuit is mutual: lower → upper → lower.

Diagram 2 — Temporal architecture: discrete lights vs. simultaneous combinations

op87_temporal_architecture_contrast Temporal architecture: discrete vs. simultaneous (Op. 87 ¶8) Other Partzufim: each light rules in its own time. Radla: all combinations rule all the time. OtherPartzufim Other Partzufim of Atzilut · each light has its own time · lights are temporally discrete · at any moment, one rules · another rules later Discrete Temporally discrete · one-at-a-time succession · stable in each window · sequential rule OtherPartzufim->Discrete operate as Radla Radla — the Unknown Head · all combinations rule all the time · lights are temporally simultaneous · every deed activates them all at once · the constant ruler Simultaneous Temporally non-discrete · all-at-once continuity · uncertain appearance · government turns from aspect to aspect  similar / contrary / opposite Radla->Simultaneous operates as Branch What we grasp · only the order in the Partzufim · called the order of the Unknown Head  because it derives from there · but the source itself unknowable Discrete->Branch we grasp RatzoVaShov Partzuf-states in ratzo va-shov · running and returning · qualities oscillate · operational trace of radla Simultaneous->RatzoVaShov produces in Partzufim Simultaneous->Branch source not known RatzoVaShov->Branch we grasp

The diagram contrasts the temporal modes. In each other Partzuf of Atzilut, the lights are temporally discrete — at any given moment one light rules; another light rules later. In radla, the lights (the MaH-BaN combinations) are temporally simultaneous — all rule all the time, because every deed affects all of them at once. The government accordingly turns from aspect to aspect — similar, contrary, opposite — and the Partzuf-states shift in ratzo va-shov as the operational trace of this constantly-all-active radla-architecture.

Paragraph 1 — Italic gloss

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> The different combinations in the Unknown Head rule as one all the time and are unfathomable. Plain English: The chapter's whole content in one phrase. Two claims. (i) The combinations in radla rule as one all the time — i.e. they are not temporally discrete; they are operative simultaneously and continuously. (ii) They are unfathomable — the unknowability established in Op. 85 ¶8 and Op. 86 ¶8 is here re-asserted as part of the chapter's framing.

What this paragraph does: Names the chapter's central architectural claim (all-rule-as-one-all-the-time) and re-asserts the unknowability that conditions everything else.

Concepts: all_combinations_rule_simultaneously, radla_other_partzufim_each_light_rules_in_turn, radla_reisha_de_lo_ityada, unknown_head_radla_topic, topic_of_sefekot_uncertainties, concealed_governmental_order.

Paragraph 2 — The proposition

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> All the deeds that have been and are being done in the world are subject to these interconnections. For anything that was not rooted here, be it a repair or damage of some kind, will not come about. All things are governed in accordance with all these combinations, depending on the deeds of the lower creations. And everything is going to be fixed in eternity, every single thing in accordance with everything that has already been done, whether they be equivalent, contrary or opposite to one another. Therefore all these combinations have control all the time, and the government turns from one to the other in each thing, shifting from one aspect to another that may be similar, contrary or opposite to the first, because the entire governmental order exists in each part. And the states of the Partzufim shift correspondingly in the mode of "running and returning". And no one can understand or grasp anything except what is revealed through the order and law visible in the Partzufim. But the source of the matter lies in these combinations, and this is not revealed or known at all. Plain English: Five clauses compressed into one paragraph. (a) All deeds in the world are subject to these interconnections; what is not rooted here — repair or damage — will not come about. (b) All things governed in accordance with all these combinations, depending on the deeds of lower creations. (c) Everything fixed in eternity, every single detail in accordance with everything already done — equivalent, contrary, or opposite. (d) Therefore the combinations control all the time; the government turns from one to another — similar, contrary, opposite — because the entire governmental order exists in each part; the Partzuf-states shift in running and returning. (e) No one grasps anything except what is revealed in the order visible in the Partzufim; the source is not revealed.

What this paragraph does: Holds the chapter's whole content. Part 1 (clause a — every deed rooted here) defended in ¶5; Part 2 (clauses b–c — governance depends on lower deeds, eternal registration) in ¶6–¶7; Part 3 (clause d — all rule all the time, ratzo va-shov; clause e — only Partzuf-order grasped) in ¶8–¶9.

Paragraph 3 — Framing: from the what to the significance

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> Following our discussion of these interconnections in the Unknown Head, we must now explain their significance. Plain English: Klach signals the move from Op. 86 (the what of the sefekot — what kind of uncertainty they are) to Op. 87 (their significance — what work they do operationally). The significance is implicitly the answer to the what-benefit difficulty Op. 86 ¶5 raised but did not directly answer.

What this paragraph does: Sets up the chapter as the operational analysis of what Op. 86 characterized structurally. The unit's progression is now explicit: where → what → significance → what-it-does → ...

Concepts: significance_of_radla_combinations, topic_of_sefekot_uncertainties, radla_reisha_de_lo_ityada, concealed_governmental_order.

Paragraph 4 — Parts announcement

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> This proposition consists of three parts. Part 1: All the deeds... All deeds are subject to these interconnections. Part 2: All things are governed... The entire governmental order follows accordingly. Part 3: Therefore... All these different combinations hold sway continually. Plain English: Three parts. Part 1 (¶5): all deeds subject to the radla-combinations. Part 2 (¶6–¶7): the entire governmental order follows accordingly — depending on the deeds of lower creations, with everything fixed in eternity. Part 3 (¶8–¶9): therefore all combinations hold sway continually; the government turns from aspect to aspect; the Partzuf-states shift in ratzo va-shov.

What this paragraph does: Names the three-part division so each can be argued cleanly. Part 1 establishes the radla-rooting of every deed; Part 2 specifies the cyclical structure; Part 3 the temporal mode and Partzuf-trace.

Concepts: all_deeds_rooted_in_radla, all_combinations_rule_simultaneously, significance_of_radla_combinations, radla_reisha_de_lo_ityada, concealed_governmental_order.

Paragraph 5 — Part 1: every deed rooted in radla; sod ha-yedi'ah

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> Part 1: All the deeds that have been and are being done in the world are subject to these interconnections. The mystery of God's knowledge is that it contains everything that is going to happen in the very way it will happen. For anything that was not rooted here, be it a repair or damage of some kind, will not come into being. For what is not included in this knowledge (i.e. in the possibilities already prepared in the Unknown Head) will never come about. Plain English: Klach grounds Part 1 in the mystery of knowledge (sod ha-yedi'ah, the Rambam's vocabulary for the relation between divine foreknowledge and free will, Hilkhot Teshuvah 5:5, here used in a specifically Lurianic-Klachic register). The mystery's content: everything going to happen, in the very way it will happen. The corollary is the operational claim of Part 1: what is not rooted here will not come about. The possibilities already prepared in the Unknown Head are the boundary of the actually-possible. Repair and damage are both included — the system is exhaustive over the modes of action, not just the good ones.

What this paragraph does: Establishes the operational thesis of Part 1: every deed in the world is rooted in radla. The sod ha-yedi'ah phrasing connects radla's role to the project's earlier foreknowledge concealed for free will (Op. 81): the foreknowledge holds the configurations that can be realized; their concealment is what licenses free choice; their exhaustiveness is what guarantees that the world's governance is reparable from any actually-occurring state.

Paragraph 6 — Part 2 (a): the cross-reference to Op. 78; the deed-radla-Partzuf circuit

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> Part 2: All things are governed in accordance with all these combinations, depending on the deeds of the lower creations. For the governmental order always takes into account the overall totality (see Opening 78). Thus every new deed has an effect on all the past, all the present and all the future. The result of that deed will never cease to exist, as I have already discussed, but is registered to exist for ever and to all eternity. Thus the way things are arranged is as follows: every deed performed by man reaches its place here, because all of them are already here. (In the Unknown Head are all the deeds of the past, present and future.) Here all the different aspects, past, present and future, are affected by this deed, because all of them are included here. Through the power of the deed's effect, the Partzufim, following the order of Atzilut, are afterwards arranged in such a way as to act in the worlds. (The influence is mutual: the deed affects the Unknown Head, which in turn affects the Partzufim.) Plain English: Two structural claims grounded in earlier chapters. (i) Totality. The governmental order takes into account the overall totality — Klach's explicit cross-reference to Op. 78. So every new deed has an effect on all the past, all the present, all the future (the deed's effect is non-local in time). The result is registered to exist for ever and to all eternity — the eternal-registration doctrine of Op. 78. (ii) The circuit. Klach now specifies the operational architecture. (a) Every deed performed by man reaches its place at radlabecause all of them are already here (all deeds, past/present/future, are included there). (b) At radla, all aspects — past, present, future — are affected by this deed (because all are included). (c) Through the power of the deed's effect, the Partzufim afterwards are arranged, in the order of Atzilut, to act in the worlds. The parenthetical names the principle: the influence is mutual. The architecture is not a one-way descent from radla to Partzufim to worlds; it is a circular coupling in which the lower creature's deed affects radla, and radla's response arranges the Partzufim.

What this paragraph does: Establishes the operational architecture of Part 2. Two claims that turn the static picture (radla holds all combinations) into a dynamic picture (every deed activates a particular configuration). The mutual-influence parenthetical is critical: the architecture is responsive to lower action, not predetermined.

Concepts: deed_affects_past_present_future_via_radla, mutual_influence_deed_radla_partzufim, eternal_registration_of_deeds, all_deeds_rooted_in_radla, mystery_of_knowledge_contains_all, radla_reisha_de_lo_ityada, concealed_governmental_order, revealed_governmental_order_atzilut, cycle_of_creation, hashgachah, mah_ban_unique_arrangement, partzuf, atzilut, mah, ban.

Paragraph 7 — Part 2 (b): eternal registration; the three kinds

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> And everything is going to be fixed in eternity... As stated above, every deed endures for the sake of the perfection destined to be revealed afterwards for the eternal delight of the souls. (The souls will enjoy the perfection of the governmental order that will be revealed through that deed.) ...every single thing in accordance with everything that has already been done... As we have said, everything is affected by everything. ...whether they be equivalent, contrary or opposite to one another. These are the three possible kinds. Plain English: Three claims. (i) Eternal registration. Every deed endures for the sake of the perfection destined to be revealed afterwards for the eternal delight of the souls. The cross-reference is to the cycle-of-creation framework (Op. 3, Op. 30 onwards). The souls' eternal delight is the purpose-of-creation end-state, and every deed endures as a contribution to that end. (ii) Total interpenetration. Every detail is in accordance with everything already doneeverything is affected by everything. The non-local-in-time claim of ¶6 is now generalized: every deed's effect is not localized to any particular past/present/future point but distributes across the whole. (iii) Three kinds. The combinations come in three relations: equivalent (structurally similar), contrary (differing but not opposite), opposite (full reversal). These are the three possible kinds — the triad is exhaustive.

What this paragraph does: Completes Part 2 by adding two further structural claims (eternal registration; total interpenetration) and naming the three kinds triad. The triad is what makes Klach's all-combinations-exist claim have full combinatorial force: every relation between any two combinations falls into one of equivalent / contrary / opposite; every such relation is real in radla; and every deed makes contact with all of them.

Concepts: eternal_registration_of_deeds, three_kinds_of_combinations_equivalent_contrary_opposite, cycle_of_creation, deed_affects_past_present_future_via_radla, sefekot_all_combinations_exist, opposite_combinations_both_exist, concealed_governmental_order, mah_ban_unique_arrangement, mah, ban, radla_reisha_de_lo_ityada.

Paragraph 8 — Part 3 (a): all combinations rule all the time; the government turns

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> Part 3: Therefore all these combinations have control all the time... In the case of the other lights in the other Partzufim of Atzilut, each one holds sway by itself in its own time. However those in the Unknown Head hold sway all the time, for in every deed they are all affected simultaneously. ...and the government turns from one to the other in each thing, shifting from one aspect to another that may be similar, contrary or opposite to the first... This is the uncertain appearance seen in the Unknown Head, for in it the government turns from aspect to aspect in all the different aspects, so that all different kinds of combinations are seen constantly. Plain English: Klach makes the chapter's most original architectural contrast. Other Partzufim of Atzilut — each light holds sway by itself in its own time. The lights are temporally discrete: at any given moment, one rules; another rules later. Radla is different: its combinations hold sway all the time because in every deed they are all affected simultaneously. The constant-all-active mode is what the all-rule-as-one-all-the-time of the italic gloss (¶1) means. The corollary: the government turns from one to the other in each thing, shifting from one aspect to a similar, contrary, or opposite one (the triad of ¶7 reapplied at the temporal level). Klach is explicit: this is the uncertain appearance seen in the Unknown Head. The sefekot of Op. 86 are now operational: the uncertain appearance is the temporal-mode signature of the all-active-simultaneously architecture.

What this paragraph does: Provides the architectural ground for the all-rule-all-the-time claim. The contrast with the other Partzufim is the chapter's central original move. Op. 86's running-and-returning characterization (¶9) is now seen as a temporal-mode feature: in radla, the light is constantly running and returning because all combinations are constantly active at once.

Paragraph 9 — Part 3 (b): ratzo va-shov in the Partzufim; branch revealed, root concealed

Source — English (Greenbaum):

> ...because the entire governmental order exists in each part. And the states of the Partzufim shift correspondingly in the mode of "running and returning". These different states give rise to the different qualities found in the Partzufim, as mentioned in the previous Opening. And no one can understand or grasp anything except what is revealed through the order and law visible in the Partzufim. The only grasp we have of these changes is as it is expressed in the order of the Partzufim. However, it is called the order of the Unknown Head, because it is from here that it derives, but this cannnot be known. But the source of the matter lies in these combinations, and this is not revealed or known at all. The rule is that a branch of something that is concealed may be revealed, but the root itself always remains concealed. Plain English: Three claims that close the chapter. (i) Entire order in each part. The entire governmental order exists in each part — i.e. the whole radla-architecture is operative in every event in the Partzufim. The Partzuf-states correspondingly shift in the running-and-returning mode (the ratzo va-shov idiom of Op. 86 ¶9, picked up verbatim). The state-changes give rise to the qualities mentioned in Op. 86 (¶17 — the lights and repairs / deficiencies state-changes the ARI discusses). (ii) Only the Partzuf-order is grasped. No one understands or grasps anything except what is revealed through the order and law visible in the Partzufim. The order in question — even when it is called the order of the Unknown Head, because it derives from there — is not graspable in its source. (iii) The branch-and-root rule. The closing principle: a branch of something that is concealed may be revealed, but the root itself always remains concealed. The Partzuf-order is the branch; the radla-combinations are the root. The branch is visible (we have an entire project analyzing the Partzufim); the root is not.

What this paragraph does: Closes the chapter with the project-wide epistemic principle. The entire-order-in-each-part claim is the cleanest form of the radla-saturates-every-event picture; the ratzo va-shov application to the Partzufim brings the unit's central idiom one level down; the branch-revealed-root-concealed rule is the most general statement of the concealed-government doctrine in epistemic form.

Synthesis

Op. 87 is the significance chapter of The Unknown Head. Op. 85 located the order; Op. 86 characterized the sefekot; Op. 87 explains what difference any of this makes for the world. Three parts. Part 1 (¶5) places every deed at radla. Part 2 (¶6–¶7) specifies the circuit by which deeds reach radla, affect all past/present/future, and arrange the Partzufim — together with the eternal-registration layer and the three-kinds triad. Part 3 (¶8–¶9) gives the architectural contrast between radla's constantly-all-active mode and the other Partzufim's each-rules-in-its-time mode, and closes with the project-wide epistemic principle that a branch of something concealed may be revealed; the root itself always remains concealed.

Part 1 — every deed rooted in radla. The thesis is bold and operational. All the deeds that have been done and are being done in the world are subject to these interconnections. The grounding claim is sod ha-yedi'ah — the mystery of God's knowledge — which holds everything that will happen, in the very way it will happen. The corollary: what is not rooted here will not come about. Both repair and damage are explicitly included; the system is exhaustive over the modes of action, not just over the good ones. This operationalizes Op. 81's foreknowledge concealed for free will. The foreknowledge is the configurations of MaH-with-BaN — all of them, in their full triadic combinatorial structure (¶7) — that radla holds; the concealment is what licenses free choice; the saturation is what guarantees that the world's governance is reparable from any actually-occurring state. The picture is not deterministic in the casual sense (radla does not make the deed happen); it is ontologically saturated in the sense that whatever can be done was prepared, and whatever was not prepared cannot be done.

Part 2 — the circuit; eternal registration; three kinds. The chapter's most explicit cross-reference is to Op. 78: the governmental order takes into account the overall totality.

The combinatorial structure is now complete.

**Part 3 — radla's temporal mode; the Partzufim's ratzo va-shov; the branch-and-root rule.** The chapter's most original architectural move is the temporal-mode contrast between radla and the other Partzufim of Atzilut. In each other Partzuf, each light holds sway by itself in its own time. The other lights are temporally discrete — one rules at one moment, another at another. In radla, the combinations hold sway all the time because in every deed they are all affected simultaneously. Radla is the only level whose lights are temporally non-discrete — they form a single ongoing simultaneity made operational by every deed. From this follows the which-aspect phenomenon (¶8): the government turns from one to another in each thing, shifting from a similar to a contrary to an opposite aspect. This is the uncertain appearance seen in the Unknown Head. Op. 86 ¶9's running-and-returning characterization is now seen as a temporal-mode feature of radla: the ratzo va-shov motion is what it looks like when all combinations are simultaneously active and observed sequentially. ¶9 then makes the propagation explicit: the entire governmental order exists in each part, and the Partzuf-states correspondingly shift in ratzo va-shov. Both levels — radla itself and the Partzufim as its operational trace — operate in the same idiom. The chapter closes with the project-wide rule: a branch of something that is concealed may be revealed, but the root itself always remains concealed. The Partzuf-order is the branch; the radla-combinations are the root. The branch is visible — the entire project from Op. 5 onwards has been describing it — but the root is not.

Three architectural notes worth holding clearly. First: the mutual-influence picture in ¶6 is the architecture for every later treatment of how human action affects the upper governance. When Klach later treats teshuvah, prayer, repair-by-action, the deed-radla-Partzuf circuit is what is being assumed. Second: the three-kinds triad (¶7) completes the combinatorial picture Op. 86 began. The full structure is: every relation between radla-combinations falls into one of equivalent / contrary / opposite; every such relation is real (Op. 86 ¶7); every deed makes contact with all such relations simultaneously (Op. 87 ¶8). This is the most complete combinatorial statement in the project so far. Third: the branch-revealed-root-concealed rule (¶9) is a project-wide epistemic principle. Whenever later chapters speak of the order in the Partzufim being called by the source's name without the source itself being grasped, the rule is being applied.

If you take only one thing from this chapter, take this: Every deed in the world is rooted in radla; what is not rooted there does not come about. Each deed reaches its place at radla and there affects all past, present, and future simultaneously; radla in turn arranges the Partzufim to act in the worlds. The combinations of radla all rule all the time, because every deed activates all of them at once — unlike the lights of the other Partzufim, each of which rules in its own time. The Partzuf-states correspondingly shift in the running-and-returning mode. We grasp the order in the Partzufim — even calling that order the order of the Unknown Head — but the source in the combinations is not graspable. A branch of something concealed may be revealed; the root itself always remains concealed.

Self-review notes

Looking ahead — grounded foreshadowing

Op. 87 says the different combinations in the Unknown Head rule as one all the time and are unfathomable. Forecasts Op. 78, 86.
