Section: The World of Repair (Openings 59–69)
This chapter resolves an apparent difficulty between two Lurianic teachings about where the Primordial Kings (= BaN) and MaH come from. (a) Etz Chayim, Shaar Derushey Nekudot ch. 1: BaN comes from the Eyes, MaH from the Forehead of AK. (b) Etz Chayim, Seder Atzilut ch. 2: BaN is bound up with Malchut of AK; MaH is the drop of male waters of AK's Yesod (cf. Op. 96 forward-ref). Two parts: (Part 1) Resolution: a light has two sources — its original-emergence source AND the source to which it is bound for governmental power. BaN: emerged from Eyes; afterwards bound to Malchut of AK, receiving governmental power from there. MaH: emerged from Forehead; afterwards bound under Yesod of AK (purpose: repair the first lights — Yesod is the power that repairs Malchut). Both teachings are correct — emergence-source vs. binding-source. (Part 2) Yesod and Malchut of AK then couple for the sake of the lights bound to them. Through this coupling: stern judgments are sweetened throughout the entire governmental order. After this sweetening is accomplished in the governing luminaries (me'orot) — Yesod and Malchut of AK — everything subject to their government is likewise governed in a mode of love and repair. The government of the worlds operates in this mode.
This is the unit's second chapter, after Op. 59 introduced the joining of MaH and BaN as the root of the repair. Op. 60 specifies the binding-and-coupling architecture: BaN bound under Malchut of AK; MaH bound under Yesod of AK; Yesod and Malchut of AK then couple; this sweetens all stern judgments throughout the governmental order.
Part 1 — The two sources. Resolution of Etz Chayim contradiction. Light has emergence-source + binding-source. BaN: Eyes (emergence) + Malchut of AK (binding). MaH: Forehead (emergence) + Yesod of AK (binding).
Part 2 — The coupling. Yesod and Malchut of AK couple for the lights bound to them. Coupling sweetens stern judgments throughout. The governing luminaries (me'orot = Yesod and Malchut of AK) are sweetened, so everything under their government is governed in love and repair.

> This answers an apparent difficulty regarding the Primordial Kings and their repair. For in one place the Primordial Kings (=BaN) are said to have come from the Eyes and MaH from the Forehead (Etz Chayim, Shaar Derushey Nekudot ch.1). Elsewhere, however, the Primordial Kings are said to be bound up with the mystery of Malchut of Adam Kadmon while MaH is the drop of male waters of Adam Kadmon's Yesod (Etz Chayim, Seder Atzilut ch. 2; see Opening 96 below). Plain English: Apparent difficulty: (a) Etz Chayim, Shaar Derushey Nekudot ch. 1 — Kings (=BaN) from Eyes; MaH from Forehead. (b) Etz Chayim, Seder Atzilut ch. 2 — Kings bound with Malchut of AK; MaH = drop of male waters of AK's Yesod (Op. 96 forward-ref).

> Part 1: After the emergence of the lights of the Eyes of Adam Kadmon – these being BaN – they were bound under the rule of Malchut of Adam Kadmon. For the nature of the lights is such that, besides the original sources from which they emerged, we must also take into account the sources to which they are bound and from which they take their power and rule in the governmental order. In accordance with this principle, these lights emerged from the Eyes and were afterwards bound to Malchut of Adam Kadmon and received their governmental power from there. Op. 60 specifies the binding-and-coupling architecture through which the root of the repair (Op. 59 — joining of MaH and BaN) takes operational form. The chapter resolves an apparent difficulty between two Lurianic teachings: Etz Chayim, Shaar Derushey Nekudot ch. 1 says the Primordial Kings (= BaN) come from the Eyes and MaH from the Forehead of Adam Kadmon; Etz Chayim, Seder Atzilut ch. 2 says the Kings are bound with Malchut of AK while MaH is the drop of male waters of AK's Yesod (Op. 96 forward-ref). The resolution rests on the two-sources principle: every light has two sources — the source from which it emerged (its original source) and the source to which it is bound for governmental power (its binding source). BaN: emerged from Eyes → bound to Malchut of AK. MaH: emerged from Forehead → bound to Yesod of AK. Why MaH at Yesod? Because MaH's purpose is to repair the first lights, and Yesod is the power that repairs Malchut. With BaN bound to Malchut of AK and MaH bound to Yesod of AK, Yesod and Malchut of AK couple — for the sake of the lights bound to them. This coupling sweetens the stern judgments throughout the entire governmental order. The mechanism is precise: the governing luminaries (me'orot; Genesis 1:14) — Yesod and Malchut of AK — are sweetened first; then everything subject to their government is likewise governed in a mode of love and repair. The unit's deepest operational claim: the repair starts at the very top (the governing luminaries of AK) and cascades downward through every level governed by them, until the government of the worlds operates in this mode of repair in actuality. The remaining chapters of the unit (Op. 61-69) will trace this cascade detail by detail.
lights_bound_under_a_source, drop_of_male_waters, yesod_malchut_of_AK_couple, meorot_governing_luminaries.Op. 60 specifies how MaH and BaN are bound in AK: BaN under Malchut of AK; MaH under Yesod of AK = drop of male waters. Yesod-Malchut of AK couple → sweetens stern judgments throughout governmental order. Forecasts Op. 96.
